Corporal, 5e Régiment de genie de combat
(5 Combat Engineer Regiment) based at CFB Valcartier near Québec City. Aged 23, he was from Sept-Îles, Québec. He was deployed with the 2e Batallion, Royal 22e Régiment Battle Group of the Canadian contingent of NATO forces serving in Afghanistan.

He and Sapper Matthieu Allard were killed when their resupply convoy was struck by two improvised explosive devices in the Zhari district, approximately 15 kilometres west of Kandahar City. They had come out of their vehicle to secure the area after the first explosion, when another bomb exploded. Another soldier was seriously wounded but was in stable condition in hospital.

Cpl Bobbitt, or "Bob" to his friends, was described as a popular, hardworking soldier with acute technical expertise who was always there to help his comrades and had recently been promoted. He also enjoyed playing hockey and video games including Guitar Hero. He had joined the military at age 19. He is survived by his spouse Felicia Labadie, his parents, Liane and Yvan, and his brothers Jonathan and Glenn.

Recipient of Sacrifice Medal (posthumous).

Military funeral held on Tuesday, August 11, 2009, in Sainte-Jeanne d'Arc Chapel, located on the Valcartier Garrison.

The deaths bring to 127 the number of Canadian military personnel who have died on the Afghan mission since it began in 2002. One diplomat and two aid workers have also died.
