He was deployed with the UK contingent of NATO forces in Afghanistan.
Cpl Horne was killed by an improvised explosive device while on foot patrol in Sangin, Helmand province. He was one of five soldiers from C Company killed by a secondary blast after an initial IED had injured several soldiers and an Afghan interpreter.
Aged 28, from Walsall, West Midlands. Cpl Horne joined the military in July 2004 and previously served in Iraq and Kosovo. He leaves behind his wife Rachel, his children Frankie and Jessica, his parents and one brother and a step sister.
Hundreds of mourners packed into St Gabriel's Church in Walsall for the military funeral, held July 29, 2009, while many more lined the quiet streets around the church. A private burial service was held at Streetly Cemetery.
