He was a son of Bonnie Jean Motley Catoe and the late Eugene James Catoe.

He was 1969 graduate of Camden High School where he played football and received the name "Monk". He served in the United States Army during Vietnam.
Mr. Catoe retired from Mack Truck. He was a loyal member of the NRA and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He was predeceased by a sister, Jean Ann King.
