Mrs. Stamps, a 35-year resident of Newport, died Saturday. She was born in Murfreesboro, Ark.
She worked as a waitress for a few years for Lily Eng, and many years at the Pantry Restaurant and Lounge on Washington Street from 1971 to 1973. After retiring, she completed the culinary arts course at Spokane Community College, in 1976.
Mrs. Stamps was a member of the Pocahontas Club and enjoyed gardening and reading.
Two husbands, Richard Dowell and Clifford Stamps, preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Wilbur Dowell of Pateros, Wash., and Jerry Dowell of Caldwell, Idaho; three daughters, Peggy Koone, JoAnn McGilvra and Roberta Conley, all of Newport; two half-brothers, Roland and Max Womack of Hot Springs, Ark.; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
