"Hiram Corbin, eighty seven, died Sunday at his residence, 324 Sweet Street N E. He was a veteran of the Civil War, serving in Company G, First Michigan Engineers & Mechanics. Funeral services will be held at the home Wednesday at two o'clock with interment in Fairplains cemetery."

BIO:

Hiram F Corbin was 30 years old when he enlisted in unassigned company, 1st Michigan Engineers and Mechanics at Pontiac, Michigan on January 4, 1865. He was mustered out on May 15, 1865 at Hart Island, New York Harbor after serving a total of 4 1/2 months.

Hiram Corbin was found in the 1860 census living in Buffalo, Erie Co, New York with his wife Rebecca B (Carr) and son Charles who was 9 months old. By the 1880 census, he and his wife were living in Tyrone, Kent Co, Michigan moving to Grand Rapids by 1890 where they remained.

Hiram Corbin was 87 years and living at 324 Sweet Street in Grand Rapids at the time of his death on June 25, 1922. Rebecca survived her husband by nine months, passing away on March 25, 1923.
