Golden Wedding
Quite a number of the relatives and friends of William and Almira Carey met at their home near Farmer's Station on November 23 and joined with them in celebrating their golden wedding, that being the fiftieth anniversary of their marriage.
They received many valuable presents on the occasion, also several letters of congratulation from distant friends.
Two tables were spread, loaded with the substantial delicacies of the land at which were seated thirty-eight guests.
After all had freely partaken thereof, the rest of the day was spent in a social good time enlivened with music.
Only four persons were present on this occasion who were present at their marriage fifty years ago.
They were the parents of nine children, all living but two, twenty-four grandchildren and two great grand-children.
And now this estimable couple, after having bourne the cares and duties of life together, shared in its pleasures and sorrows for half a century, are still blessed with a good degree of vigor and relish for the duties and pleasures of the years that may be theirs yet to enjoy.
And may there be many, and these the happiest of all their lives.
Interest was added to the occasion by the fact that it was the sixtieth birthday anniversary of the bride's brother, William Conard, who was one of the guests.
