Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Roberds and Their Fourteen Children
August 28, 1929 was an important day to W. A. Roberds and family. It was the 40th anniversary of the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Roberds.
On that day their daughter, Miss Opal and Everett Thompson were married and the Roberds Family reunion was held at their home.
Mr. and Mrs. Roberds were married on August 29, 1889, by Rev. Knox of Sinking Spring, now of Hillsboro. Thirty years of their married
life they spent on a farm near Belfast. Miss Elizabeth Setty Charles and Mrs. Zenia Overholser, both of Sinking Spring, were the only ones
at the wedding 40 years ago who attended the anniversary.
Mr. Roberds is 62 years of age and was born and reared near Fairfax. Mrs. Roberds is 59 years of age. She is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
John Frump and was born and reared near Marshall.
To Mr. and Mrs. Roberds have been born 14 children, all of whom are living and all of whom were present at the celebration of the 40th
wedding anniversary.
At noon a delicious dinner was served on tables on the lawn as all had brought well filled baskets.
In the afternoon in the presence of the members of the family gathered from far and near Rev. J. A. Hoffman performed the marriage ceremony
for Miss Opal Roberds and Mr. Everett Thompson. They will make their home from Leesburg.

William A. Roberds, son of Isaiah and Elizabeth Noland Roberds,
was born December 2, 1866, and departed this life February 26,
1942, aged 75 years, 2 months and 24 days, at his home in Louden,
Ohio.
When in early childhood he united with the M. E. Church at Fairfax,
Ohio, where he remained until death. On August 28, 1889, he
united in marriage to Mary Louella Frump, by Rev. E. L. Knox of
Sinking Spring, Ohio. To this marriage 14 children were born, all
of whom survive.
Lulu Springer, Belfast; Vergie Armstrong, Seaman; Bessie Williams,
Belfast; Bonnie Roads, Hillsboro; Emma Hasting, Berrysville;
Forrest Roberds, Georgetown; Lumetta Hiser, Marshall; Mary Gall,
Hillsboro; Alta White, Belfast; Opal Thompson, Hillsboro; Ada Douglas,
Loudon; Hazel Shoemaker, Marshall; Mabel and Elmont at home;
34 grandchildren living and one great grandchild.
His wife preceded him in death June 22, 1937, and two grandchildren;
Blanchard Williams and Uldine Douglas He was of a family of 13
children, seven living:
Dr. T. W. Roberds, Belfast; Norval, Fairfax; John, Enon; Chriss, New
Carlisle; Andy, Marshall; Dave, New Carlisle; Landon, Jamestown.
His brother, Liss just passed on January 3; Anderson at the age of 4;
Charlie and two sisters, Nellie Fox and Maggie Matthews, also preceded
him in death. He also leaves many relatives and friends.
His life was a benediction to the community in which he lived, always
ready to lend a helping hand to those in need.

There is a city that oversees the Valley of Death,
And it's beauties have never been told.
Where the leaves never fade and the sun never sets,
In that beautiful City of Gold.
