Services for Paul Marvin, 80, will be Monday, May 23, 1983, at the Rochford Church. The Rev. Dwayne F. Knight will officiate. Burial will be at the Bell Park Cemetery near Rochford.
Visitation was held at Behrens Mortuary in Rapid City.
Marvin died Thursday, May 19, 1983, at Rapid City Regional Hospital. He was born July 4, 1902, at Dalzell, the son of Alvia (Pat) and Mary Marvin. He went to grade school in Dalzell.
On February 9, 1923, he married Claire Snyder at Sturgis, SD.
He lived in the Black Hills all his life.
He worked for the Post Office, delivering mail from Wasta to White Owl, and from Pedro to Dalzell. He also worked at the Homestake Mine in Lead, and the Homestake Sawmill in Spearfish. He ranched later in life.
Survivors include his wife, Claire of Rochford; two daughters, Pahla Therrian of Kingman, AZ; and Phyllis Schiefer of Rochford; two sons, Durwood of Ontario, OR, and Darrell of Lewiston, IN; a sister, Mrs. Paul (Julia) Brothers of Elm Springs; 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Terry Rae; two sisters, a brother, and a grandson, and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established to the Rochford Fire Department.
