ASHEVILLE - Jessie Marie Walker Psychas, 85, died unexpectedly Saturday, March 9, 2002, at Mission St. Joseph's Health System. A native of Madisonville, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Jessie Axley Walker. After graduating from Dorland-Bell School in Hot Springs in May 1938, Jessie worked during the summer in Asheville at Farm School, which later joined with Dorland-Bell School to become Warren Wilson Presbyterian College. She moved to Asheville when she married John D. Psychas and lived here for more than 66 years. Before her retirement, she was the manager for Farnam's Manufacturing Co. Mrs. Psychas was preceded in death by her husband, John, in February 1985. She is survived by her son, John D. Psychas II, of Asheville daughter, Mary Ann Dunn and her husband, John G. Dunn III grandsons, John C. Dunn and Guion G. Dunn, all of New Bern and a brother, Kenneth Walker, of Hartville, Ohio. The funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Warren Wilson Presbyterian Church with the Revs. W. Robert Martin III and Karla Jean Miller officiating. Graveside rites will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Morris Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
