Gladys Comeaux Derryberry, 92, of Baytown went to be with our Lord on Jan. 10, 2004, surrounded by friends and family.

Gladys was born in Rayne, La., on April 24, 1911. She moved to Port Arthur at the age of 2 months old. She lived there until she married Thomas Alvin Derryberry, Sr., on Dec. 17, 1928. They remained Baytown residents for life.

Gladys worked at Town and County and Bo Peep in Baytown. She belonged to St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Alvin Derryberry, Sr; son, Thomas Alvin Derryberry, Jr.; granddaughters, Michelle Grigsby, Victoria Felch; grandson, Shawn Derryberry; great-granddaughter, Rachel Derryberry and great-grandson, Dustin Derryberry.

Gladys is survived by two sons, R.C. Derryberry and Michael Gavin Derryberry, Sr., both of Baytown; daughter and son-in-law, Dodie Derryberry-Everard and Jerry Everard of Montgomery, Texas and daughter-in-law, Margie Derryberry of Pensacola, Fla. She also is survived by six grandsons, Mark Anthony Derryberry, Thomas Alvin Derryberry III and wife, Carolyn, David Derryberry and wife, Jan, Hans Thomas Schatz and wife, Charissa, Lonnie Joseph Schatz, Michael "Mickey" Gavin Derryberry, Jr., and wife, Tess; granddaughter, Sarah Ann Lazarus and husband, Paul; great grandsons, Christopher Derryberry, Mark Anthony Derryberry, Jr., Patrick Derryberry, Harrison Lazarus, Coleson Schatz, Gavin Derryberry, Ryan Grigsby; great-granddaughters, Shelby Grigsby, Crystal Redding, Devin Vindas, Gia Lazarus, Devyn Istre and Nessa Derryberry and great great grandchildren, Zane and Alex Derryberry, Britnay Bryan, Robert Redding and Savanna Turnbow.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary said by niece, Wanda Symmonds, Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004, at Earthman Funeral Home, 3919 Garth Road, Baytown, Texas.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2004, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 1907 Carolina St., Baytown, Texas, with Father Dwight Canizares as Celebrant.

Gladys will be buried next to her husband at Forest Park Lawndale, 6900 Lawndale, Houston, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Alvin Derryberry, III., David Derryberry, Mark Anthony Derryberry, Michael "Mickey" Derryberry, Jr., Patrick Derryberry and Pat Grigsby.

Homegoing arrangements are under the direction of Earthman Funeral Directors, 3919 Garth Road in Baytown.
