Paul Richard "Pinky" Smith, 58, a marine surveyor with American Bureau of Shipping in Moss Point, died Monday at Singing River Hospital following a lengthy illness. A resident of 803 Pascagoula, and a native of Mary Hill (I believe that should be Merry Hill), N.C., Mr. Smith was post commander of Singing River Pilot Squadron. He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Pascagoula where he served as vestryman. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Verna Lee White Smith of Pascagoula; Paul Rhodes Smith of Sunnyvale, Calif., Robert Lee Smith and William Ambrose Smith, both of Houston, Tex.; his mother, Mrs. James W. Smith of Mary Hill, N. C.; one brothe, James Cyril Smith of Coleruin, N.C., and two grandsons. The body will be taken to St. John's Episcopal Church in Pascagoula Wednesday at 3 p.m. to lin in state until services at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Harold O. Martin, rector, officiating. Burial will be in Griffin Cemetery in Moss Point. The family prefers donations to St. John's Episcopal Church building fund.
