United States Army Officer. She was a member of the original WAC (Women's Army Corps) and graduated in its first class. She served as an executive officer in the WACs during World War II in North Africa. She was on General Eisenhower's staff in Northern Europe, and served in Okinawa, Japan as as staff advisor, Far East Command during the Korean War. She finished her career at the Pentagon serving as a logistics officer. President Lyndon B. Johnson asked her to stay in the Army while he tried to get legislation passed to allow women to hold a rank higher than Lieutenant Colonel. She retired in 1968, she was the recipient of the Bronze Star and Legion of Merit award.
