The daughter of Charles Francis Vatterott I and Margaret Elizabeth "Maudie" Harvey, Rita lived with her family in St. Louis County, Missouri where she attended school.

Rita was ill with septicemia (blood poisoning) for a short time. She was hospitalized at the Missouri Baptist Sanitarium where she died at the age of 7 years and 8 months.

Rita was buried on 14 Jul 1927 and was survived by her mother and father.
