Henry Tuggle reported for Muster from his home in Whitley County , Kentucky, into the Union Army and was never seen again by his family. He served in the 7th Kentucky Infantry Company G. He was wounded in the leg on May 22 during the second attack on the fortifications surrounding Vicksburg Mississippi during the Siege of Vicksburg and died five days later in the Regimental Hospital . Although his burial records were lost , my research makes me believe he was reburied at Vicksburg with so many unidentified others from that hospital . Original graves were marked but the often the markers were lost or burned as firewood by the locals . In addition , another soldier from his company died the same day , was buried near the Regimental Hospital , and was reburied at Vicksburg National Cemetery , which is one of the reasons I believe he is buried here . He left an ex wife with six children and a second wife with one child.
