"Smith Creek" John Stockton

Who is now known as "Smith Creek" John Stockton, was a son of Mary (nee unknown) and Thomas Stockton, Sr., (c.1740-1809). In about 1781 John married Margaret "Peggy" (nee unknown). John and Peggy raised a large family in Stockton's Valley in what was Cumberland County, now Clinton County, Kentucky. The exact dates of when John was born, married and died are not known, however, it appears that he was born about 1763, probably in Albemarle County, Virginia, was married about 1781, and died before 1805, probably in about 1803.

"Smith Creek" John Stockton lived on Smith Creek in Stockton's Valley just three properties away from his father, Thomas Stockton, Sr., who was the first settler in what is now Clinton County, Kentucky. Stockton's Valley is named after Thomas Stockton, Sr., a son of Agnes (nee unknown) and Richard Stockton, Sr., (c.1710-1775), and a grandson of Davis Stockton (c.1685-1761) of Albemarle County, Virginia.

Margaret "Peggy" and "Smith Creek" John Stockton were the parents of:
Jesse Stockton, Sr.
Elizabeth (nee Stockton) Christian
Thomas Stockton
Michael Stockton
John Stockton, Jr.

Daniel Stockton
Davis Stockton
Rachel (nee Stockton) Jones
