Mrs. Theresia Hoefel, 86 died at her home in Ritzville on Tuesday morning Jan. 22, 1952. She had been confined to a wheel chair the past three years. Funeral service are set for Saturday afternoon from the Philadelphia Congregational church at Ritizville, with burial at the Ritzville Cemetery. Mrs. Hoefel was born in South Russia, Nov. 21, 1865 and was married there to the late Fredrich Hoefel. In October 1901, the Hoefels and their 8 children left Russia for America, arriving in New York on Nov. 25, 1901, coming directly to the Ritzvlle area, homesteading and purchasing land for a farm. Mr Hoefel died in 1912.
There were thirteen children born to the Hoefels, 12 of whom are living. One son, Frederich, died in Ritzville in 1945. Survivors include seven sons, David, Ritzville, Robert of Odessa, Emil of California, John, Jake and Carl all of Ritzville and Chris of Lodi CA; five daughers, Mrs. Leontina Weigum, of Lodi CA., Mrs. Emma Wolsborn, Marengo, Mrs. Anna Clodius, of Coeurd'Alene, Ruth Hoefel, Burlingame CA. and Edna Hoefel of Phoenix AZ. 14 granchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Grandsons acted as pallbearers including, Paul and Harold Hoefel, Odessa, Teddy Hoefel, and Frederick Hoefel both of Spokane, Gerald Clodius, Coeur d'Alene and Walter Hoefel of Rtzville. A sister, Christia Niderreiter lives in Germany
