My 2nd great grandfather.

Civil War Soldier - Co. F, 4th West Virginia Cavalry.

Son of Jacob H. Bonnett and Charlotte "Lottie" Hyde.

Husband of Massie Gandee, married Apr. 14, 1851, Jackson County.

Beloved father of Charlotte, Andrew Marion, Mary E., William Mansfield, Laura Ann, and Helen Amelia Bonnett.

In a letter dated Dec 07, 1915, addressed to the Civil War Pension Examiner, daughter Helen Bonnett Anderson, Mansfield's youngest daughter, writes that she and her sister found their father dead in his bed exactly one month to the day after the death of their mother. The doctor stated that he died of probable heart failure.

According to family, the graves of Mansfield and Massie Bonnett are believed to be in Brown Cemetery where their son Will and other Bonnett family members are also buried without stones.

Up until the 1990's the graves were kept clean and decorated by family members until the cemetery became so neglected, they could no longer make their way through.
