Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Michael and Alexandria Widcola Swaha. Before retirement, he worked for RCA. He loved fishing, gardening and the outdoors in general.
He was a loving father, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be extremely missed by his family.
Surviving are two daughters, Bonnie Goscinski and Sharon Johnson, both of Scranton; two sons, Fred Swaha Jr., Scranton; and Robert Swaha, Jessup; three brothers, Frank Swaha, Scranton; Michael Swaha, Montrose; Nicholas Swaha, Scranton; five sisters, Kathryn Price, Rose Posniak, Stella Owens, Mary Klepalto and Elenor Hollingworth, all of Scranton; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a son, James "Jimmy" Swaha, on March 18, 1977; and a brother, Alex Swaha.
