Daniel Barker, 94, Of Meridian, Dies

MERIDIAN--Daniel L. Barker, 94, retired farmer and business man, died Monday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Daisy Marcum, in Meridian. Mr. Barker was born at Sasmundon, Suffolk county, England, April 3, 1851, and came to Nebraska in 1871 where he lived until 1895 when he moved to Meridian.

He was prominent in civic affairs and for many years was superintendent of the Nampa-Meridian irrigation district and a member of the board of directors. Mr. Barker was a member of the Meridian lodge, A. F. and A. M., No. 47. Survivors include two sons, Dan, Jr., Meridian, who lives on the farm his father homesteaded in 1895, and John W. Connecticut; three daughters, Mrs. Jane Smith, Portland, Mrs. Daisy Marcus, Meridian, and Mrs. Anna Curtis, Montour; one step son, Lee Egbert, Meridian; one sister, Miss Ethel B. Barker, Meridian; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

Robison's are in charge of arrangements.

MERIDIAN--Services for Daniel L. Barker, 94, retired farmer and business man will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at the Methodist church here. Meridian lodge A. F. & A. M. No. 47, will have charge of the graveside services. Interment will be at Meridian. Robison's are in charge of arrangements.
