Elizabeth Havrilla, 74, of 208 East Twelfth Street in Streator, died April 22, 1954 in St. Mary's Hospital after an illness of extended duration. She had been in failing health the past seven years.

She was born September 7, 1879 in Slovakia, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Bavolar. She came to Streator in 1891 to spend the balance of her life. She was a member of St. Stephen's Church, the Rosary Society and the Ladies Club.

She was twice married. Her first husband, John Pshak, to whom she was wed in 1896, met his death in the Cherry mine disaster on November 13, 1909. George Havrilla, to whom she was married August 4, 1920 by Msgr. Louis L. Biskupski in St. Stephen's Church, died February 2, 1949.

Surviving are are three daughters and two sons: Anna (Stephen) Gayan of San Francisco, California; Mary (Frank) Hamas of Washington, Illinois; Elizabeth (Andrew) Estock of Streator; John and George Pshak, both of Streator. All were from her first marriage. There are 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was the daughter of Andrew and Barbara (Rusnak) Bavolar. Her first husband, John Pshak died in the Cherry Mine Disaster. His remains were not brought up until the next spring and were interred in the Miners Cemetery in Cherry. Elizabeth married George Havrilla on August 4, 1920 at St. Stephen's Church in Streator.
