Louiza's parents were Elijah Daniel McPherson and Sarah Ann Small McPherson. Her father fought under Andrew Jackson in the War of 1812 and helped survey the site for the city of Chicago. Louiza married Elisha Christian Earnest, son of Elisha Christian Earnest and Priscilla "Pressey" Williams Earnest in Carroll County, GA, on October 13, 1853. Louiza and Elisha had four sons:

William Lewis
Charles L.
Hezeriah G.
Henry Radford Earnest

Louiza's husband, Elisha, died on January 02, 1863 in a Confederate hospital in Richmond, VA during the Civil War. Louiza never remarried.
