Mr. Hawkins died at his home in Engeld (Enfield?), N. C. He came to Texas in the 1870's as a drummer [salesman] and lived in Bryan until he returned to N. C. He was 67 yrs old
and leaves a wife and three children.

Comrade Dallas Hawkins, member of the First Missouri Cavalry, died last night at the Soldier's Home. He was 70 years of age, and there survives him a wife and three young children. Mr. Dallas' home was in Weldon, but since he has been in Raleigh his wife has lived with relatives in Scotland Neck. She arrived in Raleigh Friday afternoon, and was with him at the time of his death. The deceased was a member of the Methodist Church and the funeral service will be held in the Soldier's Home Chapel this afternoon at 3:30 o'clock, the service to be conducted by Rev. C. W. Robinson, pastor of Central Methodist Church. The interment will be in the Confederate cemetery.
