Professional Soccer Player and Coach. He was Austria's most prolific scorer, with 267 goals in 242 first-division matches for his club Rapid Vienna, where he played from 1930 to 1949, and 421 goals in 347 competitive games, including cup competitions and international games, and a reputed total of 1006 goals including friendly and youth matches. He won 6 Austrian Championships with Rapid as well as the German Cup in 1938 and the German Championship (while Austria was part of Germany) in 1941, scoring three goals in 10 minutes in the final vs. Schalke 04 after his team fell behind by three goals. He played 19 times for Austria, scoring 16 times, and nine times for Germany, with ten goals. He was selected as Austrian Player of the Year in 1946, 1948, and his final season in 1949. He then coached or managed a number of teams, including Rapid Vienna, PSV Eindhoven, and 1860 Munich, winning an Austrian Championship in 1964 and an Austrian Cup in 1976. His nickname "Bimbo" came from the movie "The Whirlwind," after the main character's name, as they ran in a similar manner. His grave was noted as an Honor Grave by the city of Vienna, and thousands attended his funeral. He was named to the Rapid Vienna All-Century Team in 1999.
