Steuben Republican Newspaper, ( Obituary ) Angola,

Indiana, July 11, 1892.
Born in Cumberland County, Pennsyvania, June 03, 1802, died at his home near Hamilton, July 08, 1892, aged 90 years, 1 month, five days. When six years of age his parents settled in Columbia County, Ohio, where he grew to manhood, in1825 he was married to Elizabeth Perky. This union was blessed with sixteen children, eleven of whom are still living, six being present and residents of Steuben County, the rest living in the west were unable to attend the funeral of their father . Of the sons, six were enrolled among the nation's defenders during the civil war, two of whomsacrificed there lives in that cause. The subject of this sketch removed to Indiana in the fall of 1844, settling in Steuben County, where he lived continuously up to the time of his death. The wife preceeded the husband to the better world, departing this life August 03, 1875, aged 68 years. Mr. Rummel, obeyed the gospel acceping Christ as his Savior in 1854, and during the thirty- eight years of his christian life, lived consistently, never faltering in his trust, going down to his grave full of years and firm in the faith that a crown of life was in store for him. His funeral, which was attended by a large concorse of relatives and friends, was held at the Christian Church, Hamilton, Juily 10, W.L. Stein Officiating.
