Death of T P Vandergrift
The funeral of Mr T P Vandergrift who died at his home last Thursday morning at seven o clock of pneumonia was held at the Baptist Church on Friday afternoon at 2;30 and was conducted by Pastor J B Willis assisted by Rev H E Spence of the Methodist Church.The Church was crowded with people who were present to pay their tribute of respect to the decessed. At the conclusion of the services at the Church the remains were carried to Buffalo Cemetery for interment. The grave was covered with a collection of beautiful floral designs from friends.
The pall bearers members of the Sanford Baraca class of which the deceased was a member were as follows, Mr S B Riddle, A J Bost, Gordon Riddle, Macke King, Walter Fields, and E C Hill.
Mr Vandergrift was the son of Mr and Mrs J C Vandergrift and was born in Virginia 24 years ago. He Married Miss Pearl Kelly of this place. He is survived by his wife and infant son also his mother and the following brothers and sisters, Ernest Vandergrift Manson Vandergrift of Petersburg Virginia, Mrs A B Braggs, Mrs J W Braggs and Thorton Vandergrift of Richmoond Virginia, and Mrs N A Underwood of Sanford. Besides all members of the family Mrs G W Allen of Cameron, and Mrs B V Vandergrift of Sampson County were to attend the funeral. Mr Vandergrift had made Sanford his home for number of years. He was an industrious young man and was liked by those who knew him.
