Martha Witt Moore, 85, of Bethel, died at 8:10 p.m. Monday, April 21, 1986 at the Salt River Nursing Home in Shelbina. She was born September 14, 1900 in Scotland County and was the daughter of John Leander and Mary Alice Johnson Witt. She was married May 28, 1934 at Wayland, Mo. to James Russell Moore. He died on April 2, 1955.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Kathleen) Perry and Mrs. Larry (Elizabeth) Coon, both of Bethel; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mrs. Moore also raised a niece and three nephews.
Mrs. Moore was engaged in farming and was an English teacher. She was a 1925 graduate of Missouri Valley College at Marshall. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church at Granger.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 24, at the Greening-Eagen-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbyville. Brother Kenneth Reed will officiate and burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery north of Bethel. Visitations will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Shelbina Library.
