WOODS - At his home in New Centerville, March 28, 1890, after a lingering illness, John H. Woods, aged 77 years, 2 months and 20 days.

Mr. Woods was born in Trenton, Me., in 1813. At 10 years of age he with his father moved to Penobscot, where he lived until he was 22. He was married in August, 1834, and in 1835 he moved with his wife and child to Carroll, where he remained 11 years. He afterward lived at a number of other places finally settling at New Centerville, where he resided until his death.

Father Woods was loved and respected by all who knew him and his kind manner and Christian spirit won for him a host of friends.

Thirteen years ago his jaw was fractured by a kick from a horse, a shock from which he never recovered. He did not complain and no murmurs escaped his lips during the long years of suffering, and when the end came, passed away in peace, being assured by the "invisible" that "all is well."

He leaves an aged companion, with whom he has lived 55 years and 7 children to mourn his loss. By his death his companion loses a faithful and loving husband, the children a kind, indulgent father, and the community an esteemed and honored citizen.

The funeral was held from the New Centerville M. E. church on Monday. Eld. C. F. Stilwell of this city conducting the service.
