Ellen Adellia, daughter of Marilda and Austin Webster, was born in Cabery, Ill., on March 17, 1858, and departed this life at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John (Ora) Carpenter in Lebanon, Ks., on June 21, 1944, at 3:25 a.m., at the age of 86 years, 3 months and 4 days. She had been an invalid for several years and was cared for in the home of Mrs. Carpenter for the past nine years.
After the death of her mother in 1873 she came to Kansas with her father and settled at Larned, Ks. Later she lived on a homestead near that place and also made her home in Eureka, Wichita and Topeka, Kansas.
She was united in marriage to Andy Shaffer in 1913 in Topeka and in 1916 moved to Lebanon, Ks. where she has since made her home.
She was the mother of 7 children. Three of them preceded her in death.
She is survived by 3 daughters and 1 son, Mrs. Frannie Taylor of Tescott, Ks.,Mrs. Claudie King of Kent, Wash., Mrs. John (Ora) Carpenter, and Mr. Art Atwill both of Lebanon, Ks.
Funeral services were held in the Lowery & Olliff Funeral Home on Thursday afternoon, June 22. Burial was in the Caldwell Cemetery six miles south of Formoso, Ks.

Ellen A. Webster married David Eugene Blake 1878-1885 and had 3 children: William D. Blake 1879-1894, Eugene David Blake 1880-1930 and Fannie May Blake 1883-1946. She then married James Atwill 1886-1891 and had 2 children: Arthur James Atwill 1887-1950 and Claudie Marie Atwill 1890-1953. Her third husband was William Handley 1858-1911 and had 1 child: Ora Handley 1893-1993. Her final marriage was to Andrew (Andy) Shaffer 1913-1916.
