Hobart Martin Criger was 65 when he went into the waiting arms of our Lord. He passed away July 5th, 1986 at Portsmouth Naval Hospital where he was being treated for Lung Cancer.
He joined the US Navy before he was even 18 years old. He was born and raised in Bethany, Missouri, the son of Clay Criger & Grace Miller. He retired in the US Navy as a CWO4.
Survivors include: His wife Ruth Alice Riggs Criger, his sons Paul Martin Criger, David Michael Criger, and Roy Wayne Criger, his grandchildren Melody Criger and David Michael Criger Jr., and 4 great grand children Megan Daisy, Mikayla Marie, Dylan Michael, and Brennan Chase.
He loved to go fishing whether it was at the Great Bridge Locks on the Albemarle Sound of whether it was on the pier down at Nags Head. He always had time to teach you something, whether it was a science project, help with math or English homework and he could always fix anything that was broken and loved to take things apart and put them back together.
