JOHN ROBERT "BOB" LANKFORD
1920 - 2009

John Robert "Bob" Lankford, age 88, of Pensacola, FL, passed away September 5, 2009.
Bob was born in Philadelphia, PA.
After serving 31 years in the US Navy, Bob retired and moved to Satellite Beach, FL, where he spent 13 years enjoying a favorite lifestyle of boating and fishing. A 19 year resident (1990-2009) of Azalea Trace, Pensacola, Bob was active in many projects. For more than 18 years he enthusiastically raised the American flag each day at the large flagpole near his residence, stood back and patriotically saluted the flag. He founded an outdoor park and activities site in Azalea Trace property that he lovingly tended and cared for, and was recently honored with the park being officially named "Lankford Park". He was also a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Hannah W. and Ralph W. Lankford; his brother Ralph L. Lankford; and sister Anita Gormley.
He is survived by his wife Claudine L. Lankford, of Pensacola, FL; sons David Lankford of Oviedo, FL; Roger Case of Orlando, FL; daughters Linda Dunton of Windsor, ME; Susan Marello of Carolina Beach, NC; Barbara Gorman of Sanford, FL; and Peggy Canaday of Tavares, FL. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Private services for the family will be held at Bayview Memorial Park.
Memorial service open to all friends will be held at Azalea Trace Auditorium, 10100 Hillview Dr., Pensacola, FL, on Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Luke United Methodist Church, 1394 E. Nine Mile Rd., Pensacola, FL, 32514.
