Mrs. Emma Badgett Mattingly, 88, died Monday, July 5, 1982, at 8:20 a.m. at Spring View Nursing Home in Lebanon. A daughter of Marion and Mary Osbourne Badgett, long deceased, she was the widow of Walter Mattingly, who preceded her in death January 16, 1953. She is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Annie Mary Bowman, and Mrs. Rose Thompson, both of Louisville; three sons, Adrian Mattingly, Fredericktown; James W. Mattingly, Marion County; and Thomas B. Mattingly, Springfield; 36 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Also surviving is one half-sister, Mrs. Spencer (Sarah) Hamilton, Marion County. Funeral Mass will be said Thursday, July 8 at Holy Trinity Church, Fredericktown. Celebrant will be the Rev. Patrick Warren. Burial will be in St. Rose Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. (tonight) at Hale and Polin Funeral Home in Springfield.
