James Buchanan Bice was born on 18 December 1860 in Cartersville, Georgia, to Lafayette Bice Sr and Sarah Jane Allen. He married first Bettie Harold, in 1890, and second Martha L Traweek, in 1894. James and Martha's children were Ruby, Asberry, Edward, Sylvester, and Dimple Bice. James married third Joice Collins, in 1907. Their children were Viola, Carrie, Barbara, George, Raymond, Leonard, and Mary Bice. James Bice died, 4 April 1939, aged 78, in Cherokee County, Texas, and was buried at Hendrick Cemetery.
