About 1882/1883 the family suffered hard times and had to move into the Wolverhampton Workhouse. Fanny's father Tom Rowley died there in 1884; her mother Sarah in 1889. In 1891, their Aunt Martha Neath in OH, paid for the passage to the US for Fanny 10, brother Tom 15, and their half sister Amy (4, born in the workhouse), who came by themselves to the US.
