Age 1 year. She was the daughter of Alexander & Sarah (Blackington) Jameson who lived at Jameson’s Point. In 1792 throat distemper (known as diphtheria today) was rampant in Camden and the eastern part of Thomaston (Rockland today). The Jameson’s lost five of their children in August and September of that year, three of them to this disease in fourteen days. Five small headstones, all in a row, mark the final resting place for Alexander age 10, Mark age 8, Luke age 4, Chloe age 1 and Barbara. This is a grim reminder of how fragile life was during that time.
