Son of Opal and Mary McPike Adamson of Heltonville, IN. He attended the Heltonville High School. He was inducted into the Army at Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis on March 31, 1943 and took his basic training at Camp Blanding, FL; Camp Joseph T. Robinson, AK; and Fort Meade, MD. He went overseas in October 1943. He was a member of the 83rd Chemical Mortar Division of the 5th Army. He served in North Africa and Italy where he participated in the fight on the Anzio beach and the capture of Rome. At that time the division was changed from the 5th Army to the 7th Army and moved from Italy into France and then into Germany. He died of injuries received in a vehicle accident while driving under blackout conditions near Neckarelz, Germany on April 5, 1945.
