John and Mary were the parents of Margaret, James, Charlie, Nancy, Mary Jane, John David, William Henry, Emily, Harriet, George, Lora Deen, Loren and Alice Amelia. He was declared insane in March 1897 after falling from a horse buggy and was transferred to the asylum in Traverse City Michigan.
