British wife of American poet/editor Nathaniel Parker Willis. The couple met in England and were married after a month-long engagement on October 1, 1835. They honeymooned in Paris. In 1837, the couple moved to the United States, near Owego Creek, New York, in a home they called "Glenmary." They had one child who survived into adulthood, a daughter named Imogen, who was born June 20, 1842. Mary died in childbirth in 1845.
