In 1900, Mr. Trautman was appointed as a night policeman, and in 1902, he ran for and was elected the Bucyrus Police Chief, with a salary of $500 a year. His duties as Chief ran until 1939 - a career that saw Bucyrus go from horse and buggies to traffic lights.
