WEST POINT, GA -- Mrs. Maudie Hill Johnson, 97, of Bartley Road, West Point died Wednesday, 2 Mar 2005 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Bertha and Charles Smith in Meansville, GA.

Funeral services are scheduled Saturday, 5 Mar 2005 at the Pentecostal Church in LaGrange, GA with Revs Dalton Hammock and David Murphy officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Huguley, AL.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by a son, James (Patricia) Johnson of West Point, GA; four daughters, Queenie Glass of Columbus, GA, Doris (James) Hood of Macon, GA, Syble Hood of Lanett, AL and Bertha (Charles) Smith of Meansville, GA; 17 grandchildren; and many, many great-grandchildren.

Born 25 Sep 1907 in Clay County, AL, Mrs. Johnson was the daughter of the late John Henry and Fannie Leola Dean Hill. She had lived in West Point since 1954. Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Pentecostal Church in LaGrange. She retired from West Point Pepperell Manufacturing Company.

Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, John Wesley Johnson Sr., and two daughters, Florence Pearce and Lavada Duncan. She has a son, Wesley Jr. (Bo) Johnson, who has been missing in action since the Korean Conflict.

The family will be at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, James and Patricia Johnson, 3409 Bartley Road.

Family members will receive friends at the Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home in LaGrange, GA Friday, 4 Mar 2005 from 6 to 9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Vista Care Hospice, 750 Baconsfields Road, Suite 150, Macon, GA 31211 or Vista Care Hospice, 390 Wilson Road, Bldg. B, Griffin, GA 30224.
