Obituary from The Montana Standard 9/17/2009:

David William Powers, 53, of Livingston, died Sunday evening, Sept. 13, 2009, of a heart attack while hunting near Malta.

Cremation will take place at Franzen-Davis Crematory in Livingston following a family visitation. There will be a gathering of family and friends at the Livingston Civic Center at 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19.

David was born Dec. 27, 1955, in Butte, the son of Matthew and Mary (Bowler) Powers. He spent his early life in Butte, and graduated from Butte High School in 1975, and attended Montana Tech in Butte for a year.

On Nov. 14, 1980, he married Diane L. Burns in Butte.

David worked in the medical field until 1995. They moved to Livingston in 1982. He worked as a service representative for Alpine Yamaha since the mid 1990s.

David was an avid archer and enjoyed bow hunting. He was also active in and worked as the state coordinator for American Brittany Rescue, an organization concerned with the rescue and adoption of Brittany spaniel dogs.

Survivors include his wife, Diane Powers of Livingston; his parents, Matt and Mary Powers; brothers, Rick (Sherry) Powers, and Mike Powers all of Butte; sisters, Ellen (Bill) Davis of Seattle, Trudy Powers of Bellingham, Wash., and Elaine Powers of Butte; daughter, Maggie (Carlos) Aranda of Antioch, Calif.; and grandchildren, Christiana and Javier. David also leaves behind his beloved Brittany spaniels, Levi, Molly and Scuff, and numerous foster dogs.
