Franklin "Buck" Beall, 84, of Sigourney, died Sept. 17, 2009, at the VA Hospital in Iowa City. Surviving are his wife Colleen of Sigourney; daughter Cindy of Ankeny; and grandchildren Kevin Dyson of Albia and Wendy Stuhr of Sigourney. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church, Sigourney. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Sigourney. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Sunday at Holm Funeral Home, Sigourney.

Franklin Everett "Buck" Beall, 84, died September 17, 2009 at the V. A. Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. He was born March 19, 1925 near Highland Center, Iowa to Ross Ensign and Belle Stonebraker Beall. He attended school in Sigourney. Buck was in the U.S. Army from September 16, 1943 until October 13, 1945 serving in Southern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He was a prisoner of war for 10 months in Austria. He received two Purple Hearts, four Bronze Stars and the Bronze Star Medal. On March 6, 1946 he married Colleen Arlene Moore in Kirksville, Missouri. He was employed by Charles Phelps and later he owned and operated Buck's Phillips 66 in Sigourney. Later he sold Walnut Grove Feed, and drove truck for Kingsbury Homes.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans and the V.F.W.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters Cleo Seaba, Levita Kerkove, Louise Williams and one brother Theodore Beall.
Those left to mourn his passing are his wife Colleen, daughter Cindy of Ankeny, two grandchildren Kevin and wife Wendy Dyson of Albia, Wendy and husband Lyall Stuhr of Sigourney, five great-grandchildren Brandon, Alex and Megan Stuhr, Katie and Tyler Dyson, a sister Mildred Wilson of Sigourney, nieces Linda and husband Chuck Kahler of White Heath Illinois, Dottie and George Morrow of Sigourney, nephew Victor and wife Kathy Cook of Bartlesville Oklahoma, and several other nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral service 10:00 a.m. Monday September 21, 2009 at the First Presbyterian Church in Sigourney.
Burial- Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Sigourney
Visitation after 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the Holm Funeral Home
