Animal welfare organiser.One of the founders of battersea dogs home.She established a temporary home for lost and starving dogs in Holloway London.In 1871 the home moved to Battersea where it has remained and in 1883 started taking in cats as well as dogs.Died aged 64 of cancer and is buried with her brother Reverend Edward bates.
