"Hub" Adolph A. Asmussen, 76, died in a local hospital on Sunday.

Mr. Asmussen was born Feb. 9, 1901, in Vermillion, SD and as a child, his family moved to Portland and Seattle. In 1903, he and his family moved to Bridgeport where he attended school.

Following high school graduation, he worked on the coast and returned to Bridgeport and the Mansfield area where he was in the wheat and cattle business until 1956.

On Dec. 29, 1932, he married Mary E. Smart, in Okanogan.

He moved to Malott where he bought a ranch and at one time, was chosen conservation farmer of the year.

He was a member of the Lutheran church, Past Noble Grand of the Bridgeport IOOF Lodge and later transferred to the Mansfield Lodge, Malott Grange and was active as a 4-H leader in Mansfield for a number of years.

Surviving are his wife, at home; one son, Daryl, Tonasket; two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Norma) Wainscott, Mansfield and Mrs. Larry (Joyce) Pinnt, Woodinville; three sisters, Hazel Henton, Bridgeport, Mrs. Clifford (Nellie) Smith, Mansfield and Mrs. Hayden (Lela) Grand Coulee; three brothers, Bill, Brewster, John, Seattle and Harold, Mansfield; eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Roy.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 pm from the Barnes Chapel on Elmway with the Rev. Tom Carlson officiating. Concluding services and interment in the Okanogan Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Mansfield Community Scholarship Memorial Fund, c/o Keith Smith, or to the Mid Valley Memorial Hospital Fund. Arrangements by Barnes Funeral Home.
