Richard was actually born in Tregavarah Cornwall, as carved on his headstone. He died of Diabeties Militis Coma. Richard was the owner and proprietor of the Ovens and Murray Advertiser, published in Beechworth for many many years. He lived at "Warren Grove" in Camp Street which no longer exists. He was a philanthropist and helped set up the Beechworth Hospital and the Asylum. It is believed he even served on the Town Council. A notable figure of the town his funeral was huge with hundreds attending.
