Olive (Parsons) St John, the daughter of Aaron and Amanda (Brink) Parsons, was born near East Hubbardton, Vermont of July 5, 1836 on her parent's farm. Olive was the eldest of three children. She had a brother Timothy and and sister Esther. Little is known about Olive's youth, but it is known that she married Samuel Wheeler St John and they continued to live in the area farming. Her husband Sam died in 1900 leaving Olive a widow for nineteen years. She passed away on April 29, 1919 and is interred with her husband and other members of the St John family in the East Hubbardton Cemetery.
