He was an Arizona pioneer but moved all over the country with his family. They first moved to Galveston, Texas, then to New York, Philadelphia, and in 1877 they arrived in Butte, Montana by stagecoach. In 1878 it was on to Oregon, California. and Arizona. His father operated a store in Charleston, near Tombstone, and Sam joined him there in about 1881. In 1958 he printed his memoirs, "An Arizona Pioneer-Memoirs of Sam Aaron" edited by Jacob R Marcus. Because they were written 50 years after the events they do suffer from recollections, but they give interesting sidelights on the Earps, Clantons, and Apache raids. Sam was given a Jewish funeral, but his Catholic wife buried his ashes in a Catholic cemetery.
