Son of James and Maria Cole, Robert married Mary Ann Tran, daughter of James Tran and Mary Ann Gardham 5 Jan 1870 at Duffin's Creek, Ontario County. Together they farmed in Markham Twp. and had four children, James, Robert, Alice, and John. Sadly the parents, Robert Cole Sr. died in 1877 at age 40 and Mary Ann followed soon after at age 39 in 1879.
