Joseph Borges Sr. was born 24 Jun 1882 in Koloa on the island of Kaua'i and died 07 June 1942 of a heart attack while at work at the county rubbish dump at Honolii in South Hilo on the Big Island. He moved to the island of Hawai'i around 1924. Joseph was survived by son Joseph Jr. of Hilo and daughters Clara of Hilo and Mrs. John De Mello of Honolulu. His service was held 09 Jun 1942 at the Elmore Chapel with Mormon elders officiating.
