John Broker Chilton Times February 3, 1906

After an illness of one week John Broker died at his home in Gravesville at the age of 40 years, 1 month and 28 days. Mr. Broker on Tuesday of last week was taken down with pleural pneumonia and the first of the week it was thought that he would recover, when other complications set in and he died on Wednesday evening, Jan. 31.

The deceased was the eldest son of Theo and Barbara Broker and was born at Green Springs, Iowa, Dec. 3, 1865. When he was seven weeks old his parents came to this county and located in the town of Brothertown, where they remained until 1883 when they came to Gravesville where the decedent lived until his death. In 1877 he was married to Caroline Brown and three sons were born to them all of whom survive him. Shortly after coming to Gravesville Mr. Broker secured employment with Dorschel Schultz & Company of this city and has worked for that concern ever since. They always found him to be a faithful and honest employe and speak in the highest terms of him. He was a good citizen and neighbor, a loving husband and father and his death is a severe blow to the widow and children.

The funeral takes place this forenoon from St. Augustine's Catholic church of which he was a devout member with interment in St. Mary's cemetery. The entire community extends sympathy to the family. Besides his widow and three sons, he leaves his parents and three brothers and three sisters.
