By 1860, the family had relocated to Colesville, Broome County, New York; and by 1970, the Kilmer clan was living in Binghamton, Broome County, New York. According to the 1880 census, George was a farm hand in Ira, Cayuga County, New York, residing in the Wilkes household. The following year, on Christmas Eve, he married Helen Elizabeth Beach. Helen brought a five-year-old daughter, Edith, into the new Kilmer household. Presumably, George had moved south to Pennsylvania in 1880 or '81.
George and Elizabeth Kilmer, who resided in Ellenton, Lycoming County, had two sons:
Emery Leo Kilmer (1886-1972)
Floyd Kilmer (1894-1894)
Son Floyd lived only 4 days, July 16-20, 1894. He was buried in Ellenton Cemetery, and has no gravestone.
George died in Ellenton on April 30, 1920 at age 63, and was buried on May 4th in Lot 42 of the Ellenton Cemetery.
